All the entries are in, and it is nearly time for ALC 2005 to begin!

After recieving 54 entries, the format for this year’s ALC has been decided. In a bold move, as a hint to the EBU for the Eurovision proper, ALC will consist of 2 semi finals, and then the grand final.

The loyal 'ALC veterans’ (ie. The 9 people who have submitted entries to both years’ contests) each have themselves a place in the final, with everyone else, and all extra ‘ALC veteran’ entries will fight it out in 2 semis, consisting of 22 and 23 entries respectively, for the 16 spare places in the final. That means that the top 8 from each semi will make it to the final.

The entries of semi 1 will be displayed on the morning of Monday 4 th July, and then all semi 1 participants must vote for their top 10 (excluding their own entries) from the semi, by Friday 8th July. Semi 2 will then run in the same way from Monday 11 th July until the Friday 15 th July. If you will not have internet access to give your votes in the entirity of one or two of these periods, please let me know and an arrangement will hopefully be reached. Finalists who have no entries in the semi may still vote, but it is not compulsory.

There will be a draw for the running order of both the semis and the final. If you have 2 entries in the semi final, they will be split between them (unless you cannot vote in one of the semis), and if you have 3 entries in the semis, they will be split so there are 2 entries in 1 semi, and 1 in the other.

The final will be running from 25 th of July (or a few days later), if you are going to be away for the last week of July and the first week of August please let me know!

And as for next year, there will be 10 automatic qualifiers again, and they will be the 10 highest scoring entrants from 2005, obviously if anyone doesn't enter who finished top 10, the 11th placed entrant will qualify etc.

Good luck everyone! :)
