ALC2009

Guidelinez

Please read these carefully before you submit your entry!

ALC format:

There will be 4 Semi Finals, which will overlap at 2 day intervals, with voting over a period of 5 days for each semi.
The top 5 of each qualifying to the grand final where they will be judged together with the automatic qualifiers

Submitting your Entry:

Each participant can enter up to 3 entries
A joint-entry counts as 1 entry for both entrants
Only ESC Nation MB or Chat regulars can enter
There is no limit on entries based on each song, but after 3 ALs based on 1 song, a warning will be given here
Entries must be kept anonymous. Anyone revealing their entry will be disqualified. This includes posting 'anonymously' on the ESC Nation messageboard, as moderators can still see who you are. Don't give yourself away in any way on the MB, in the chat or on Facebook etc.
Entries may be submitted in word document, text document, html file, or just typed into the email
Entries can be altered/swapped as many times as required during the submission period
Deadline to enter: Friday, July 16th 23:59:59 CET is the cut off point, for all entries and alterations
Once your entry is accepted and the submission deadline is passed, your entry is from then on the complete property of partyvision.co.uk
This means the lyric will be permanently displayed on partyvision.co.uk (or any future ALC site) unless I make a decision to remove it.
While you may withdraw from ALC at any time, your entry will not be permanently deleted from the archives.
However, your entry will never be used for any commercial purposes without your permission.

Further requirements asked for by you:

Any special requirements (video, specialist mp3s) must be requested in good time, and provisions must be discussed fully with the organizer
Mp3s will be time limited, and restricted to Eurovision music only.
I will make my best effort to secure live/langauge/album versions of mp3s as requested.
Video must not be uploaded by anyone other than the ALC producer, for anonymity reasons.
The Producer's decision on "extra aid" entries is final. I live in Germany now, I can be strict ;)
If you would like the producer to check spelling then just ask! (Obviously not if you submit 1 hour before the deadline!)

Further requirements asked for by us:

A pictorial representation (ideally, a photo of you, the writer) for the revelation shows, and the final scoreboard
An intro and outro message for your final votes (send when you submit these)
Information if you are unavailable for any period of time between July 16th and August 17th
Designation of which entry will be in the final for direct finalists

Voting:

Compulsory for semi/final participants in own heat
Optional for participants without an entry in that heat
Non-entrants can vote, all non-participant votes will form 1 jury in each heat
All voting is ESC Style: 12, 10, 8-1 points given to top 10
Voting must be undertaken in the spirit of fairness.
Please don't try and figure out who wrote which entry before voting, and even if you are sure you know who wrote a song, just vote on the strength of the entries, not on which one your friends/partner wrote.
Anyone suspected of voting for certain writers rather than entries may be asked to review their votes, or be disqualified.
If you are going to be away from internet access during a voting period, there will be the possibility to vote via SMS.
Provided you can access the entries (i.e. print them off and put the mp3s on your ipod), and you have requested to use this option in advance!

Presentation of the entries:

Entries will be placed in their semis and running order via a draw
Songs with more than one AL based on them will be kept apart where possible in the semis
ALs by the same writer will be kept apart where possible
After the submission period ends, each writer will receive an email, confirming:
the html presentation of their entry/ies
the mp3 of the original song(s) to be provided with their entry/ies
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT HAS ENOUGH SPACE TO RECEIVE 3 MP3s.
If it doesn't, set up a gmail account instead. Bouncing ALC emails are more annoying than Denmark 2010.

The following writers have an automatic finalist place in the final:

Contact:

If you need to contact the organisers for any reason, always use alternativelyricscontest@gmail.com
This includes if you want a message on the MB deleting if you consider it ruins your ALC anonymity. Reporting this in the usual way on the MB will only alert all moderators (many of whom are also participants) as to who you are, so please contact me directly!
