Contest overview
The 2014 Home Composed Song Contest was organised by a team headed by the previous year's winner, Eduard Alexogiannopoulos from Greece, who created a dedicated website for the competition as well as - for the first time - a Twitter account (as @homecomposed14).
The 2014 participants included a combination of familiar faces and newcomers. All in all, there were 18 entrants from a total of twelve different countries. No new flags made their debut on the scoreboard this year, but the long history of Home Composed inevitably means there are not many territories that are yet to be represented in the competition.
The 2014 edition was notable for being the first in which all participants submitted just one entry each - this would become the norm from now on.
As usual, the participant juries were joined by a jury composed of the Radio International Team (shown as in the scoresheet). There was also a public vote based on "likes" on the music sharing site Soundcloud (shown as
in the scoresheet), with the participants being encouraged to spread the word and drum up support for their own entries.
An incredibly exciting voting sequence presented in video form by the organisational team went right down to the wire, with the winner only being revealed with the very last vote of the night. Having finished 5th, 6th and 4th in the previous three editions, Bo Söderholm from Finland finally made his big breakthrough and took the title with his song "When My Heartache Is Over", narrowly followed by the entries representing Portugal and Italy.
