Cyprus in the Home Composed Song Contest
Cyprus first participated in the Home Composed Song Contest in 1994 and was most recently represented in the 2022 edition.
Although the country only has seven entries to its name, Cypriot participants have made a big impact in HCSC and beyond. Cyprus took the top two placings in the contest in 1994; their second-placed entry was performed by the then 15-year-old Michael Hadjiyiannis (as his name was transliterated for the purpose of the competition), who was on the verge of a big career that would take him to the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest, among other things. Meanwhile, 2007 representative Andreas Anastasiou would later compose the Cypriot entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf as well as the island nation's entry for Junior Eurovision 2016.
Cyprus continued its strong record in the Home Composed Song Contest with second place in the 2019 and 2021 editions.
